Description
Located on the Barra peninsula near the estuary of Inhambane, Barra Lodge offers comfort and a superb location with miles of secluded, white sandy un-spoilt beaches. Bordered by the Inhambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other, the lodge is nestled amongst groves of coconut trees offering a welcome shady reprieve from the hot Mozambican sun. The warm Indian Ocean is safe for swimming all year round.
Rooms
Barra Lodge has three types of accommodation: There are twelve two bed Casitas; eight four bed Casitas; four self catering cottages and two bunkhouses which accommodate 16 guests. The Casitas are built is traditional style of thatch, brick and reeds. Each Casita is fitted with two or four beds with linen and mosquito nets, and an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and hand basin. Most have sea views and are a stone's throw from the beach. The Self Catering Cottages sleep either four or six people. Each room has two beds and the cottages are equipped with full bathroom and kitchen facilities. The Bunk Houses have four rooms with four beds in each and a central living area with fridge and gas cooker. There are communal male and female ablution facilities. Beds are fitted with mosquito nets and bedding but guests are requested to supply their own towels.
Facilities
Barra Lodge is geared towards families and has a casual and relaxed atmosphere. There is a swimming pool and activities room with games and satelite TV to keep the children entertained. For the adults there are a range of watersports activities including diving, snorkelling and fishing. Delicous seafood meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant and the beach bar is the perfect spot for sipping sundowners. |
