Description

An exciting and unique way to explore East Africa! Mountain-bike on trails through the region’s premier nature reserves and National Parks. Exploring the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, the route takes you through spectacular valleys teeming with wildlife, including some of Africa’s largest elephant. Spend your evenings relating the day’s adventures around the campfire and enjoy the comfort of unique safari camps and lodges. This trek can be enjoyed by anyone with a moderate level of cycling fitness.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be met and transferred to the Ndarakwai Tented Lodge in west Kilimanjaro where you will be staying overnight. Use the free time in the evening to check your bike and gear and make sure you are ready for the trek.

Day 2
After breakfast you start the trek with a leisurely ride around the Ndarakwai Ranch. The area has fantastic wildlife and you can experience game viewing from a different perspective. The day’s ride takes you out to a remote satellite camp where you’ll stop for lunch before continuing on your explorations for the afternoon.

Day 3
Today you continue through the Ndarakwai Ranch, around the base of Kilimanjaro to the Amboseli Park on the border with Kenya. Following the guidance of the rangers you may have an opportunity to bike near some of Africa’s largest elephant. Overnight is spent at a satellite camp.

Day 4
Taking a more relaxed pace, the day’s biking takes you on an exploration of the park. In the afternoon enjoy a good book on the veranda or take an afternoon nap to ensure you’re well rested for the next day’s ride.

Day 5
A long day of riding ahead, make an early start and enjoy the spectacular scenery as you bike across the valley between Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru. Wildlife is abundant in this area so you’re sure to enjoy some great game viewing along the way. The night will be spent at a camp inside the forests of the Arusha National Park.

Day 6
The day is at leisure to recover from the previous day’s ride. There is also the option to enjoy some day walks and explore some of the Arusha park. Overnight at the forest camp once again.

Day 7
After breakfast check out of the camp and transfer to Kilimanajaro Airport for your flight home.
