SKELETON COAST CAMP
Location
Skeleton Coast National Park, North West Namibia
Description
Skeleton Coast Camp is a luxury tented camp located within the private concession area in the heart of Skeleton Coast Park. The camp has been built on an island in the dry Khumib riverbed. The Skeleton Coast Park in Namibia is wild and desolate but uniquely beautiful. It has everything from roaring sand dunes and windswept plains, to towering canyons and saltpans. Occasional freshwater springs permeate the desert sands to create oases that sustain the region’s wildlife which includes the rare desert elephant, ostrich, springbok, gemsbok, cape fur seals, jackal and brown hyena.
Rooms
The Camp has six luxury tents built on wooden decks which are spacious with private en-suite bathroom facilities.
Facilities
A large old Leadwood tree offers shelter from desert sun and is used as an outdoor dining area. The camp lounge has a reference library and is adjacent to the bar and dining area, all with spectacular views over the desertscape. Daily activities include game drives, bush walks and elephant tracking with the local Himba tribe. Visiting to the coastal marine reserve as well as the diverse geological sites make this a unique destination. |
