Description

The Kariega Park encompasses the spectacular Kariega River Valley. A wonderful African wilderness, the area is a sanctuary to wildlife such as lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino, hippo, hyena, giraffe, zebra, eland, wildebeest, waterbuck and a variety of antelope, as well as a myriad of bird species, including nesting Martial, Crowned and Fish Eagles. Covering an area of 6000 hectares, Kariega private game reserve is a superb bush destination. Malaria free with diverse wildlife it will enthrall nature lovers. The park contains four lodges each with their own unique style.

Rooms

The 5-star River Lodge is nestled on the banks of the Bushmans River, and comprises 10 superbly appointed thatched suites accommodating up to 20 people. All suites have en-suite bathrooms with spacious showers and ornate baths. The suites are air-conditioned with ceiling fans, satellite TV and mini bars. River Lodge offers guests unsurpassed luxury, hospitality and cuisine.

Ukhozi Lodge has 10 luxury suites, each with it’s own plunge pool and private viewing decks offering spectacular panoramic views. With African-style lounges, dining area and boma, guests can unwind in front of warm log fires, enjoy sumptuous cuisine or simply share experiences of the African bush. There is also a large outdoor pool. The suites are tastefully decourated with a large en suite bathroom. The rooms are fully air-conditioned.

Kariega Lodge, ideal for families comprises luxurious and spacious log chalets, all en-suite with their own viewing decks and some with private pools. Children of all ages are welcome. The chalets are spacious allowing you to enjoy complete privacy together with spectacular views. Kariega’s pub and restaurant is nestled in indigenous bush and has superb views of the surrounding bush. Here you can enjoy tasty traditional South African cuisine and sundowners.

The Homestead is set in a remote part of the reserve with spectacular views. A perfect choice for a group or family of up to 10 persons, wishing to enjoy a unique safari experience. The extended and newly restored, 100 year old farmhouse has five en-suite bedrooms. Equipped with a bar, satellite television and playroom there’s sufficient space for the whole family. The Homestead has a private swimming pool with exquisite views of the reserve.

Facilities

There are daily game viewing activities including bush walks and game drives. During the day and between game drives, guests can soak up the African sun in the tranquil ambiance at the lodges. In the evenings, guests can unwind in front of warm log fires, enjoy sumptuous cuisine or simply share experiences of the African bush. The Homestead has it’s own private 4x4 available for game viewing.
