Description
Covering a conservation area of 10,300 square kilometres in the south-west of Tanzania, Ruaha National Park is set within and along the Great Rift Valley. The area includes a unique transition zone where the Eastern and Southern species of both fauna and flora meet. Set against this dramatic topography the luxury Jongomero safari camp rests under shady acacia trees along the banks of the Jongomero Sand River. Located in the remote south-western sector of Ruaha, Jongomero is the only camp in the area ensuring unmatched privacy.
Camp & Rooms
Jongomero camp is comprised of eight large and well-appointed tented suites. Each is set up under an enormous thatch roof which encompasses a spacious private veranda. The dining and living areas are very comfortable offering great vantage points to view the African bush that surrounding the camp. There is also a natural rock pool to cool off in on those hot African days.
Facilities
The proliferation of plains game in the park ensures that the larger predators including leopard and large prides of lion are unusually active. The bird life, too, is unparalleled with some 530 species recorded to date. Specially adapted four wheel drive vehicles are used on game drives, with two-way radio and tiered seating for visibility. Daily activities include game drives and bush walks accompanied by experienced professional guides.
