VUMA HILLS TENTED CAMP
Location
Mikumi National Park, Southern Tanzania
Introduction
Located just north west of the Selous, Mikumi National Park is the closest National Park to Dar es Salaam. Nestled between the Uluguru mountains to the northeast, and the Rubeho and Udzungwa mountains and the Rift Valley escarpment to the south west it benefits from the highest game density of the entire Selous conservation area. The Mkata plain supports vast herds of plains game such as wildebeest, impala, zebra and giraffe, hunted by their associated predators. In the surrounding hills you will find Lichtenstein's hartebeest, greater kudu, roan and sable antelope. Whilst not guaranteed, there have been numerous sightings of the African 'wild dog' hunting the plains in packs.
