Description
Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp is located in the remote and seldom visited southern sector of Kafue National Park. The area is best known for its beautiful plains and lush woodlands of Miombo, Zambezi Teak and Mopane trees. The raised, thatched Boma, located under a huge Jackelberry Tree, houses the lounge and dining area, bar and verandah, with a stunning and elevated view of the dambo. An open air camp fireplace is on the adjoining Kjope and generally is the focal point of the evening activities where guests can enjoy fireside tales amidst the sounds of the African night.
Rooms
Currently the lodge is able to accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 well appointed thatched cottages. Built to make the most of the tranquil surroundings, they have been built to blend discreetly into the undergrowth without compromising the magnificent views in front of the lodge. The cottages are spacious, have en-suite facilities of hot shower and toilet and have been tastefully decorated and provide everything one need's for comfort and peace without compromising on the sense of being close to nature.
Facilities
Game viewing is superb and Nanzhila Plains offers opportunities to see vast numbers of antelope species including roan and sable, reedbuck, defassa waterbuck, oribi, hartebeest and eland. The main carnivores in the area include the big hunters such as lion as well as wild dog and cheetah. The birdlife is prolific and sightings of the endemic black-cheeked lovebird, the wattled crane, ground hornbill and saddle-billed stork amongst others is quite common. Guests have a choice of guided game walks or game drives. Visits to Lake Itezhi-Tezhi and cultural visit to Shezongo village can be arranged on request. |
