Description
Just a short drive from Johannesburg the Magaliesberg is a beautiful and safe environment in
which to introduce people to wilderness activities and adventures. Well suited for school
groups and families, this kloof and climb itinerary will create learning experiences and teach
valuable skills of wilderness exploration and survival. With a multitude of natural kloofs the
Magaliesberg area has some of the best rock climbing and kloofing sites in South Africa.

Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from Johannesburg, drive to the Magaliesberg area. Once all gear is checked you will hike in to the campsite. Once camp is set up you can enjoy lunch and swim in the nearby rock pools
Day 2: Following an early breakfast you will pack your day packs and set off for the climbing area. After a detailed briefing you will spend the morning learning the basic skills of rope work, belaying and climbing. Enjoy lunch is cool shelter of the kloofs. In the afternoon continue with the activities. Hike back to the campsite late afternoon.
Day 3: Now familiar with ropes, harnesses and abseiling you embark on the day’s kloofing activity. Starting out with a spectacular abseil down a waterfall you spend the day exploring the kloofs and swimming in the streams.
Day 4: Today’s skill is learning bush navigation, after some short exercises to get you familiar with compasses and maps you will embark on a hike navigating your way to different check points. Completing the exercise in good time will allow you enjoy some leisure time in the afternoon and swimming in the rock pools
Day 5: The last day is a little more leisurely. After breakfast you pack up camp ensuring that all gear and litter is removed from the site. You then have a short hike back to your car.
