Hi, I’m Molly and I work with Firecloud Adventures. I joined the team in May 2006 as their new mascot and Community Projects Ambassador. As a rather cute - and dare I say, “adventurous” - teddy bear, I will be accompanying various expeditions on my mission to raise funds and awareness of various community projects that Firecloud Adventures is working with.

WHAT IS A BAG OF LOVE?
For our first project we are working together with BAGS OF LOVE, an organization that provides gift bags to children affected by HIV / AIDS.

Mama Amelia provides a warm and loving home environment for more than 100 children, most of them orphaned by HIV / AIDS. Amelia relies on the generosity of the community and private donations to keep the home running so we decided to pitch in and help her. Mama Amelia’s home is in Khayaletsha, Cape Town

Molly and her dedicated team approached various people in Cape Town for sponsorship of a June 2006 Kilimanjaro trip. The goal was to raise between R10 000 and R20 000 to buy gift bags containing rain jackets, beanies, warm winter gear and school stationary for the children at Mama Amelia’s home.

Sponsorship was pledged per metre ascended of Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak at 5896m. For example: a 1-cent sponsorship resulted in a total pledge of R58-96, a 5-cent sponsorship became a total pledge of R294-80, and a 10-cent sponsorship meant a pledge of R589.60. Alternately, sponsors simply pledged a lump sum to be donated regardless of the height achieved on the climb. Organisations that sponsored R2000 or more for the project were offered a banner with their logo and photos on the summit.
Molly will personally deliver the bags to Mama Amelia and her children in mid-July after the expedition’s return from Kili.

Note: All funds raised are administered by the Friends First Foundation - a Section 21 Company. All donations will be accounted for and receipts and statements can be provided to all sponsors on request.
