Namibia is located in southwest Africa and is a large
and mainly arid country made up largely of the vast
shifting sand dunes of the Namib Desert. In the interior,
the escarpment of a north–south plateau slopes
away to the east and north into the vast interior sand
basin of the Kalahari. The Fish River Canyon , located
in the south of the country is the world’s second
largest canyon and can be hiked over a distance of 85km’s.
In the far northwest, the Kaokoland mountains run along
the coast, while further inland lies the Etosha Pan,
which is a dried-out saline lake surrounded by grasslands
and bush which support a large and varied wildlife.
There is an abundance of 4x4 trails across the country
and horse trails are also very popular. In the far north,
the Kunene river offers commercial muti-day rafting
trips. |
