Firecloud Adventures Guestbook

Our Guestbook is where we get to brag a little. It is wonderful building relationships with clients as we plan and design their African adventure. It is even more rewarding when they take the time to fill out an entry in our guestbook and provide us with feedback once they return home.

The Guestbook is a collection of entries over the years, feel free to browse through the comments and letters. Perhaps it will inspire you to travel with us to Africa.

South Africa – July 2014

“We made it home in one piece, as did, more importantly, the wine! Can’t thank you all enough for everything that you did for us to make this really the most amazing trip – whether Warren for finding the aardvark/pangolin/leopard cubs when under last minute pressure; to Cherelle for all the planning, suggestions, ideas and top tips (and most importantly of all for convincing me to do it properly and sign up for the Warren experience); and Leanne for all the details that made it such an incredibly smooth and stress free experience (can’t tell you how impressed we were on arrival when we were met off the plane and were whisked through the diplomatic immigration channel).  You can rest assured that we will be spreading the Firecloud name as loudly and as widely as we can!” - Warmest regards, Alistair, Emilia, Kirstin & Cameron

Namibia and Botswana, July / August 2012

“Sherri and I want you to know how much you meant to our trip – upon reflection, indispensable! Your knowledge of every fact and facet of the fauna, flora, people, countries, etc., was truly astounding, your enthusiasm for everything was wonderfully contagious, and your absolute calm professionalism in the face of unexpected travel challenge was immensely reassuring. As Sherri and I both told you, neither of us was convinced at the outset that a private guide to travel with us was necessary, but it took us only our first camp to appreciate how wrong we were. I have already given your name and contact information to several of my clients who are planning an African adventure, and will follow up with them as time passes. Finally, our invitation to visit us in California was and is heartfelt and we will be disappointed if your travels do not bring you to Santa Barbara.” - Warmly, Rick and Sherri Montgomery

“Doug and I would also like to add our accolades to Rick’s letter. The trip was “bespoke” (love that odd little word)…each day a custom planned outing with the added excitement of discovering lion cubs with their mothers, hyena cubs in their den, a leopard in the tree branches and more. We also greatly benefited from your medic skills. The burn on Doug’s leg is healing more completely each day…thank you for finding the correct medication to use and dressing his wound daily. Thank you too for the “Forever Remembered 71st Birthday” dinner for Doug…a bonfire banquet with 50 fire-lanterns attached to a sculpturesque tree, cake, an African concert and a beautiful shirt. The safari was a magical experience with you adding volumes of information to every outing.” - Hugs, Carol & Doug Fell

South Africa and Namibia, September 2011

“Hi Cherelle,  The entire trip was fantastic! Thank you so much for your efforts and steering us in the right directions. I know our requests were a bit ‘out of the norm’. What can I say about the guides? Graham, although he had never been to the Richtersveld you wouldn’t know it. Truly competent every way necessary and a genuinely nice person. It was like going out on a camping trip with an old friend. Very special. Warren was the consummate professional. Outstanding in every way possible, he taught us so much. I’ve been with guides on various trips and often already know most of what they are saying. This was not true with with Warren. His depth of knowledge is real he is as much into it as I am with plants. I’ve never been a big fan of guided tours but these two guys make me rethink that in some of the places that I like to go a private guide greatly enhances the experience. Erindi– both Helen and I preferred Erindi, partially because we are not the type of people that like to be ‘waited on’. The animal experience was greatly enhanced beyond expectation due to Warren and his friendship with Natasha. All the guides/trackers from Erindi were very competant and nice. The viewing of the waterhole from our room and the deck made it very special beyond just the game drives. Total saturation of wildlife viewing if one wants it-anytime. Food was delicious and buffet style with so many choices were a real treat.  Phinda– lodges were very tastefully situated in their environment, the entire staff was well trained and all were so nice and extremely accommodating. If you’re one that likes to be spoiled this is the place. The animal viewing was outstanding and our guides and trackers were quite capable and friendly. I think visiting both Erindi and Phinda was certainly the right move as it gave us much better perspective and we enjoyed both very much. Our self part of the trip was great, after Cape town. The city driving and signage did get a bit confusing at times, but once out of the city, everything got much better. It would have been nice to have Graham for those two days in Cape Town. AantDorpsiend inVanRhynsdorp was wonderful. Leila is the best. Thanks again for your very important part of our adventure, it made it special in every way. I’ll be ‘working on Helen’ for Madagascar down the road. I’ll let you know as the time approaches. If you have any info let me know. Might be a year or two out.” - All the best, Karl and Helen Dobler

Okavango Delta, Botswana + Kruger & Garden Route, South Africa, September 2006
“My clients had a WONDERFUL time and enjoyed all aspects of the trip. They especially enjoyed meeting you and having you help them secure that overnight hotel in Johannesburg when their flight from Maun was delayed. They were so pleased with all the arrangements made by Firecloud Adventures so you can be assured that I shall use you again when I need an FIT to South Africa. Hopefully, I will get to plan a trip for myself one of these days! Again thanks for planning a superb trip, Cherelle! I will look forward to working with you again, hopefully soon!” – Travel Agent, Linda Van Buuren (California, USA)

Southern, eastern and central Madagascar, April 2004
“Our stay in Madagscar was very interesting, and it was nice to see the culture of the country. The driver was superb and the hotels were all very good. The La Varangue has, I’m sure, the best restaurant in Antananarivo, their food is excellent! We had a very nice stay, thank you.” - Valerie Hirsch (Johannesburg, SA)

Nosy be, Madagascar, July 2004
“My trip to Madagascar and Nosy Bé would not have been so enjoyable and effortless, had it not been for Cherelle’s excellent service and attention to detail. I highly recommend Firecloud Adventures. - Zani Kemp

Indonesia, December 2004
“Thank you very much, we had wonderful experience all round. All the arrangements and flights went very smoothly even the internal flights. The guide was very pleasant and helpful and we now know the ins and outs and the places to go in Bali and of course we would love to do another trip like that again one day. Once again thank you for all the travel arrangements and hopefully we will be asking Firecloud Adventures to do the booking for another trip one of these fine days.”  Rod Kohler

Nosy Be, Mt Ambre & Morondava, Madagascar – July 2005
“We came back safe and everything went well with our holiday in Madagascar. The country was very nice and the accommodations were clean and nice. Thanks very much.”Genevieve Foulquier (Johannesburg, SA)

Kilimanjaro Machame Route, August 2005
“You can hear all the stories in the world about Kili, but it is something that you cannot fully grasp without experiencing it. To climb this mountain requires a resolve, a determination to keep going when (at least for me) everything in you screams that it wants to give up. It is within the reach of “ordinary people”, but it is not for the fainthearted. You’ve got to want to get to the top.” - Heather Brownell (Johannesburg, SA)

Madagascar, November 2005
“Our trip to and in Madagascar was a real success. Everything went exactly as per programme, without any hitch or problem. Many thanks for your good care and services.”Jos Graindor (Centurion, SA)

“Thank you for all your assistance in getting our Madagascar holiday together, your service has been great! – Lorna Wilks (Johannesburg, SA)

Nosy Be, Madagascar – November 2006
“Thank you for all your help on my trip to Nosy Be, Madagascar. It was awesome, fun, very hot, very rustic but beautiful and restful. I will certainly go again, and recommend my friends to use Firecloud Adventures.” – Gwyn Gray (Port Elizabeth, SA)

Magaliesberg President’s Award Expedition, South Africa – March 2007
“ The boys loved the time in the Magaliesberg organised by Firecloud Adventures. The activities were exciting and even though the abseiling was scary, everyone did it and I was so pleased that everybody managed to beat their fears. There has been a change in their outlook since returning, they are more confident and positive of their future. They especially thought that swimming in the pools was a healing experience. I am so pleased with the outcome of the trip. – Tumi, mentor at Bosasa Youth Centre (Krugersdorp, SA)

Zanzibar ,Tanzania – April 2007
“The highlight of our trip to Zanzibar was swimming with the dolphins on the south coast – to be recommended to anybody who loves that kind of thing. Saw plenty dolphins and a huge whale shark that practically scraped past me, it was a memorable experience. We also went on a sunset cruise in a dhow which is to be recommended. We walked to the nearby Nungwi village where there is a beautiful beach and bars on the beach, we spent most days just relaxing on the beach and in the water, it was a very nice relaxing holiday.” – Chris Barnard (Johannesburg, SA)

Perinet, Nosy Be & Morondava, Madagascar – April 2007

“Thanks for a great Madagascar holiday! Your service was excellent. In fact, if you asked me: If I went again, will I book through Firecloud Adventures again? The answer would be: Of course, what a silly question! I have promised my middle daughter a trip when she has completed her jewelry design course end of next year, so you’ll hear from me again soon!” – Estelle Hopkins (Cape Town, SA)
