Description

This trek offers a unique perspective on the sights of the famous mother city – Cape Town. Take in the best of the historical sights in the city and spend the rest of the week exploring the spectacular mountains and coastline of the peninsula. Accommodation is is luxury guesthouses en route so each evening can be spent relaxing in style. This fully guided and portered tour is a superb and unique way to explore Cape Town’s surrounds.

Sample Intinerary

Day 1
Arrive at Cape Town international airport. You will be met by your guide and transferred to the Guesthouse in the city where you’ll be staying overnight. After freshening up you will embark on a walking tour of the city centre visiting the historical land marks. The day’s activity ends with a visit to Robben Island.

Day 2
After breakfast at the guesthouse, depart for Rhodes memorial located on the slopes of Devil’s Peak. From the memorial follow the trail through Newlands Forest down to the world famous Kirstenbosch Gardens where a picnic lunch will await you. For the afternoon you can choose to explorer the gardens or continue down the path which will take you to the guesthouse.

Day 3
An optional early morning walk will take to explore the Vlakkenberg Peak near Constantia. This will then be followed by a more leisurely exploration of the vineyards in the Constanatia area. Lunch will be enjoyed under the magnificent oak trees, where you can enjoy some of Constantia’s award winning wines. After lunch there’s an option to join the launch in Hout Bay to visit Seal Island or have the afternoon at leisure. Dinner will be enjoyed at one of the many seafood retuarants in Hout Bay.

Day 4
Today is spent exploring Silvermine Nature Reserve. The route takes you over the mountains and down to the fishing village of Kalk Bay. Highlights of the day include sections of indigenous forest and deep sandstone caves. Following a picnic lunch in the forst the afternoon is spend exploring the many antique shops on the Kalk Bay beachfront.

Day 5
After breakfast walk along the main street at your guide provides you with some historical context to the area. Meet some of the local fiherman at the harbour and enjoy a lunch hosted by one of the local communities. This will afford you an opportunity to gain some insight as the the lifestyle and challenges that they face. After lunch transfer via Fishoek to the Naval town of Simonstown. Here you can explore some of the many museums and visit the penguin colony t boulders beach.

Day 6
Following a leisurely breakfast at the guesthouse, take a drive to Cape Point Nature reserve. Once there you’ll explore the cliffs on the South Western side of the peninsula which will take you up to the lighthouse. After lunch you pick up on the shipwreck trail which takes you meandering through fynbos with and opportunity to possibly spot some bontebok, Ostrich and Eland. At the end of the day transfer to Kommejie where you can watch the sunset over the Atlantic from the “stoep” of your beach cottage

Day 7
Today you get to explore one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Town - Noordhoek Beach. A leisurely pace takes you across to Noordhoek fro m Kommetjie where you can enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants. Returning to Kommetjie the afternoon takes in a visit to the local Masiphumele township where you get to enjoy a traditional African mal hosted by the local community

Day 8
Departing from Kommejie the morning’s highlight includes a drive on the famous Chapman’s Peak drive. There’ll be many opportunities for taking photographs. For the energetic we tackle the Twelve Apostles on foot climbing up to Maclears Beacon on Table Mountain. For those not wanting to walk you can drive around the peaks and ascend using the cablecar. On a clear day the views from the top are spectacular! A great way to end your tour of Cape Town, descend the mountain by cableway and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
