Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Windhoek where you will be met and transferred overland via Okahandja, Otjiwango, Otavi and Grootfontein to the lodge where you will meet your horses, the crew, go for a swim and enjoy sundowners in this typically African landscape.
Day 2
It’s time to hit the trail, and during the day you will cross several large farms in northern Namibia, alternating with remote vleis where you can catch glimpses of local birds coming to slake their thirst. After an easy first day, you can relax at the Blystroom (Happy stream) camp.
Day 3
Today you’ll enter a private game park that has an amazing number of game and bird species. This is an amazing day as you travel towards a large pan and then move up one of the dry riverbeds that flows to the Okavango Swamps in rainy season. After your full day’s ride, you can look forward to star gazing and drinks at the “Tomorrow Star” campsite.
Day 4
The day starts with a short ride to the nearby loading ramp where the horse will be transported to Tsumkwe. While the horses are on the road, you’ll visit a San settlement and join in their everyday life for a few hours. You’ll be reunited with the horses in the evening, and have some time to ponder the life of the small tribe of the desert.
Day 5
Ride to a lovely pan for lunch, and then continue to a campsite set up under gigantic Baobab trees. Be surprised by a visit from local San, and again relax with their musical language of clicks echoing in the darkness.
Day 6 - 8
Throw your watch into your pack. For the next three days, we’re following the San and tracking elephants across Namibia. Listen to the sounds of the African bush and the rumbling of the gentle giants by day and by night. Be woken by the soft rays of the sun, and salute it’s setting on this epic journey.
Day 9
It’s time to say farewell to the elephants and the San and ride towards the Botswana border, where you will be picked up and return to the lodge. This will be an evening of memories and stories as you celebrate life.
Day 10
Enjoy breakfast, and then transfer back to Windhoek.
