SA Day Kayak options

In South Africa the coastal climate is so variable that it makes it very difficult to schedule multiday sea kayaking trips. For this reason we have selected some of the best areas along the coast where you can enjoy day kayak excursions. As a bonus you may encounter dolphins, seals or penguins frolicking in the waves beside you.

Cape Town – Simonstown:
Paddle out past the historic Naval base where large sea lions laze alongside the docks. Depending on the prevailing tide and wind you can either paddle out into False Bay or around to boulders beach where there is a protected penguin colony.

Cape Town – Three Anchor Bay:
Located near the city and V&A Waterfront you launch from the beach at Three Anchor Bay. The paddle takes you out on the Atlantic alongside the promenade towards the famous beaches of Clifton and Camps bay.

West Coast - Langebaan Lagoon:
Two hours north of Cape Town is the quaint coastal town of Langebaan, Located on a marine reserve and lagoon the area offers some superb kayaking. You’ll be able to spot various bird species as you have a relaxed paddle around the lagoon area.

Garden Route - Plettenberg Bay:
This famous and popular seaside town has beautiful beaches which stretch the length of the bay. A popular playing ground for dolphin and whales, the kayak excursions promise just such an encounter. Paddle across the bay to the nearby penguin colony and enjoy spectacular views of the coastline.
