Description

On the South Eastern border of Zambia flows the great Zambezi River, sustaining wildlife, national parks and many local villages. Explore the area by travelling downstream in canoes at a leisurely pace. Experience the African bush, visit a local community and have the opportunity to view and encounter game and birdlife along the way.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive at Lusaka and transfer to Kiambi Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 2
Following an early breakfast is at 07h30 you will meet your canoeing guide who will give you a brief on the expedition downriver. This will include awareness of dangerous animals, safety measures while on the river and at the campsites, and techniques on canoeing. Once completed you pack your bags and head down river stopping for tea and lunch en route. Later afternoon you arrive at Buffalo Beans campsite located on one of the islands. With camp already set up you can simply relax and enjoy sundowners whilst dinner is prepared

Day 3
Breakfast is enjoyed in camp style, cooked over an open fire. After breakfast you continue downriver stopping to visit a local village on the banks of the Zambezi. The village visit includes a stop in to visit the school, homes and shops and get an inside view the local way of life. From the village you paddle down to the Mana pools area. Well known for it’s rich diversity of wildlife you should have some opportunities to see game up close. The overnight stop is at Mvuu campsite.

Day 4
After yet another delicious campfire breakfast your set off downstream once again. The day is taken at a leisurely pace with the focus on game viewing. Stopping for tea and lunch en route you overnight at the Chongwe community campsite.

Day 5
After breakfast you bid farewell to the camp staff and transfer by motorboat back to Kiambi Lodge. The rest of the day is at leisure and game drives and bush walks are optional afternoon activities. Overnight at Kiambi Lodge.

Day 6
Enjoy a lazy morning on the banks of Zambezi. Transfer to the airport in Lusaka in time for your flight home.
