Drakensberg: Monks Cowl - Sphinxs - Blind Man's corner - Hlatikulu Nek - Zulu Cave
“ Sometimes we talk, sometimes we drink, but always we WAAAALK!” That was the mantra for the two day hike to Zulu cave in April earlier this year. Blessed with wonderfully clear blue skies, the views were magnificent, and the more adventurous went swimming in the chilly streams and waterfalls along the way. The route is somewhat strenuous with some challengingly steep ascents and descents, and aside from a few choice phrases threatening mutiny along the way we successfully trundled into Zulu cave ending a hard day’s hiking. It was a sociable scene as we shared the cave with three other groups, warming ourselves with a few sips of sherry and a big bowlful of pasta for dinner. Settling down for the night we dosed off with the stars peeping through the trees and the sound of the rushing waterfall overhead. Does life get any better?
